Grim Reaper of Death Claims Mrs. John Jackson 1895-1940

On Monday night December 9, 1940, the grim reaper of death visited the home of John Jackson of Sulpher Lick and took away a precious wife and mother: Mrs Vader (Carnahan) Jackson, she had been in bad health for about four years, her suffering was great but she bore it patiently. She and Mr. Jackson (who survives) were married in 1914. Surviving children are: Mrs. Rex (Yelma) Bacon and Mrs Ray (Ruby) Birge of Sulpher Lick. Mrs. Hascal (Myrtle) Chandler, Tompkinsville and Preatice, Ezra, Denton and Clinton Jackson of Sulpher Lick. Also surviving is her father Meade Carnahan, three sisters Mrs. Mallie Tisher, Illinois - Mrs. Lark Sisco, Ft. Run - and Mrs. Bethel Bushong, Summer Shade Ky. A brother Larkin Carnahan of Illinois - two grandsons Kenneth and Carl Birge.

Mrs. Jackson was a devoted member of Athens Baptist Church since early life and was a good christian woman. She is greatly missed by neighbors and friends as well as in the home.

Funeral services were held at Ebinzer on Wednesday following her death conducted by Rev. J. T. Clemmons with burial of sorrowing relatives and friends. Two children preceded her in death Lovie Mae in 1932 and Velma Ruth in 1934.
